4th BayIND Alumni Meetup 2025 in Wuerzburg
From 21 to 23 November 2025, the fourth BayIND Alumni Meetup took place in the historic city of Würzburg. Around 45 BayIND alumni – former students from Bavarian universities with experience in India, as well as Indian students who are currently studying or have studied in Bavaria – came together to network and further develop their skills. This year’s theme was: “Crossing Cultures – Building Careers.”
After individual arrivals on Friday afternoon and check-in at the DJH Youth Hostel Würzburg, the meetup began with a group dinner at the Indian restaurant Guru. In a relaxed atmosphere, alumni had the opportunity to connect, exchange first impressions, and ease into the weekend. The evening concluded with a short walk back to the accommodation.
Saturday began with breakfast and the official welcome by BayIND and Maike Schmoch (FIT Project, Hof University of Applied Sciences). This was followed by the first session of the day: “Storytelling Your International Experience: Career Paths Bavaria–India,” with experts Mr. Umashankar Sharma and Mr. Christian Klemenz, moderated by BayIND alumni Andrea Vizcarra Sedano and Vidhen Patel. Participants gained insights into how to communicate international experiences effectively and leverage them in professional contexts. After the lunch break, an anti-bias workshop with Prof. Dr. Simone Emmert took place. Through interactive exercises, the alumni explored how cultural differences, unconscious biases, and communication styles shape everyday professional life – and how to approach these constructively. In the early evening, the group gathered for a group photo. The day concluded with a communal dinner at Bürgerspital, where conversations and networking continued.
On Sunday morning, participants checked out after breakfast. The group then joined a session dedicated to discussing future networking opportunities and career prospects. Afterwards, a guided hike to Marienberg Fortress was on the agenda, offering alumni the chance to enjoy the scenic views over Würzburg. Individual departures followed around midday.
A special thank-you goes out to all participating BayIND alumni and speakers who made the fourth BayIND Alumni Meetup an enriching and inspiring event. With its successful combination of networking, personal development, intercultural exchange, and shared activities, the weekend was a great success.
