Higher Education Cooperation between Bavaria and Karnataka

With NEP 2020 on the horizon, Bavarian and Indian universities convened to explore opportunities for intensifying cooperation.

The Government of India in the year 2020 passed the new National Education Policy (NEP), which seeks to reform the entire education system. Significant attention is given to increasing the quality of higher education and reducing the complexities of structures within the higher education system. This is set to internationalize universities and facilitate student mobility.

The federal state of Karnataka is taking the lead in implementing the policy in the state through its apex institution - Karnataka State Higher Education Council (KSHEC). Since the NEP 2020 will usher in major changes, BayIND worked together with the KSHEC to host two intensive seminars to understand the implications of the new education policy and identify opportunities to strengthen existing ties.

Public universities from Bavaria and Karnataka were the primary audience of the seminars held in March & April 2022.
