Smart Cities Workshop in Bangalore

Under the umbrella of the DWIH, BayIND, Heidelberg Center South Asia and the EU STI platform have organised a one day workshop on 16th September with the topic of "Smart Cities: Mobility, Infrastructure and Energy" at the Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan, Bangalore.

The workshop was part of a series of pre-events leading to the DWIH annual conference CityScapes in New Delhi, which is taking place between September 29th and October 1st 2016.

The inauguration session brought the European, German and French perspective to this topic with the German Consul General Ms Hellwig-Bötte, the French Consul General Mr. François Gautier, the director of the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Mr. Betrams and the Head of Research & Innovation Sector of the Delegation of the European Union to India, Ms Tania Friederichs.

Top-notch scholars, experts and practitioners, from both public and private sector, covering various aspects of smart cities presented their ideas and expertise, exchanged their views and approaches, jointly seeking for commonalities and innovative solutions. The four panel discussions dealt with the topics of Inclusive Cities, Smart Transportation, Urban Infrastructure Planning and Waste Management & Energy.

The insightful day with speakers from municipality, politics, industry, NGOs and academia elaborated on the present day scenario, challenges and solutions in developing smart cities in India. Up to 150 registered participants showed the immense interest in this topic.
