Study in Bavaria

Bavaria's universities are a major source of innovation and progress. They enjoy an excellent reputation. In fact, Bavarian universities are regularly at the top of nationwide rankings.

Bavarian universities are in a dynamic process of internationalisation. The proportion of students from abroad now stands at approx. 12 %.

Due to the low tuition fees and the excellent studying conditions, Bavarian Universities and Universities of Applied Sciences increasingly attract international students. Numerous Bavarian universities already offer both Bachelor and Master degree programmes and lectures and seminars in English.

It is important to know that there are different higher education types in Bavaria. Accordingly, the choice of university should be done.

State Universities (Universitäten): traditional universities, focus on academic training as well as on research. They offer Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral Degrees.

State Universities of Applied Sciences (Fachhochschulen): they are designed with a focus on teaching professional, practical skills. They offer Bachelor's and Master's Degrees.

State Universities of Arts (Kunsthochschulen): they cover all fields of art: fine arts, music, theatre, architecture, graphics, design, film, television, radio or art education.

Private Universities: Most universities in Bavaria are state-owned and offer excellent teaching and learning facilities free of charge, as they are financed by the State. Apart from that there are also a number of private universities.
