The Free State of Bavaria (the largest of Germany’s 16 federal states) with more than 12 million inhabitants is among Europe’s most powerful economic regions.

Bavaria’s economy is highly diversified. Global players such as Allianz, Audi, Adidas, BMW, MAN, Puma or Siemens are headquartered in Bavaria. In addition, a very broad range of highly innovative small and medium sized enterprises are domiciled in Bavaria as well as many hidden champions.

The Bavarian GDP exceeds 20 of the 27 EU member countries, even those of Austria, Belgium, Denmark or Sweden.

Indian-Bavarian trade relations


The trade relations between Bavaria and India have gained momentum especially since 2003 and have been growing steadily since then. Currently more than 60 Indian companies have already invested in Bavaria.

Moreover, Bavaria and the Indian state of Karnataka have signed a cooperation agreement in 2006 in order to further deepen the bilateral economic and political activities.
